Gathering Poem

Imagine you are a bird, flying above the earth
To any distance you want
Until you reach the place
Where you can see everything
In every detail

And when you could, you would see
Tendrils of red thread everywhere
Weaving together in beautiful patterns
Can you see it
Can you see the thread connected to you?

Follow the thread, and you will see me along the way
Along with every person you’ve met that changed you
That you changed

We are connected, you and I
All of us here, are connected by this magical red thread
We were connected before we met
And now we gather here together

You are that bird again, and you hear voices
Both loud and soft
That called to each of us
Come here, come here

Discover
We were all called here
By voices we may not have heard aloud
But instead in our hearts.
We are connected all of us,
And we were called

But what then, were you called to
Is there some big thing we have to do?
Will it be a burden? Will it a joy?
The answer is only that you are connected and called
And asked only to be responsible for what you hold in your hand
That piece of red thread

You need never worry about what’s in another’s hand
Although you might, as we all do
But all you need to do is contained in your hand,
In that thread.

We are connected, we are called, we are responsible
And one more thing
We come together to witness
To say to one another
“I see you”
“I hear you”
“I honor your story.”

Connected
Called
Responsible
Witness

Welcome to this Red Thread circle.
